Quite the interesting week we have had here in Renca. On Wednesday we started things off right by having a CENSUS. So we were asked to stay all day until a lady came and knocked on our door and took our info. Most missionaries got visited by like the afternoon or daytime but they didn't come to our house until around SEVEN which was not fun, so that way we had lost almost all of the day's work. Not good. But oddly enough it kind of worked out because I felt a little s i c k y. As lame as that is we probably would have had to stay home all day anyways because the adjustment to the Chilean food threw me for a big ole loop and I was making constant visits to the bathroom every little bit.
Well thank goodness THAT passed and I was feeling a lot better by Thursday. We went to district class in the morning which was way good and lo and behold.. on of my good friends from the mission Elder Patterson has returned from his time serving on Easter Island and has come to (most likely) finish his mission here in the other side of the ward. He is comp's with Elder Lewis. We got to work after district class and had a good day until everything went to crap. At about 9pm they called and told us to go home because they were going to cut the water in a few hours and that we had to go home to gather up a lot of water in water bottles. Sure enough at around 11pm they cut the water in all of Renca. So Friday morning they cancelled zone conference and told us to work as normal. We showered with bottles filled with water that we had poked holes in the tops of. (Very creative E'McCurdy what would we do without you) BUT even though my great idea worked very well I did manage to get soap in my eye and that hurt for about an hour so I guess the moral of the story is that sometimes you just can't gave everything. The water came back about a day later and everything went back to normal.
One of my favorite investigators, Nacho, came to church with us on Sunday and we also attended a baptism in another branch. He really enjoyed it. He's 13 and he carried around my backpack the whole time and told me 'ahora soy elder' which is quite basically 'now i'm the elder'. Little guy really knows how to get to me. He's gonna be baptized the 14th of May so staaay tuuuuuned. ALSO a couple interesting things that happened were that there were TWO not one but TWO earthquakes this week, one woke us up in the middle of the night on friday(?) and the other was yesterday at around 6 oclock. The first one was about 6.2 and the second 6.9 or so, by far the two strongest i've ever felt. So cool.
ALSO, last P-day I bought a guitar!!! I was given permission to get one and it's going o help me keep sane when E'Moss isn't necessarily the chatty type. (Not dissing him, only recognizing that I am a person who needs to be kept occupied I guess) and with the purchase of a new guitar (a very cheap one might I add) I have decided to grow out my nails. I've always been a person to bite my nails and since life is about change I'm already two weeks into growing out my nails to help my guitar skills and I'll admit it does seem to be working very well.
So anyways after all that nonsense I want y'all to know that I'm very good and this week I have really been able to feel the spirit impact our work here. Every day is satisfying and some are hard; but equally rewarding. Try and check out my blog to see all my photos.
Love you all
